Personal Injury Claims – Use of the Terms ‘Costs Cap’ and ‘Success Fee’
At Stonehewer Moss, on qualifying claims, we offer a costs cap of 18% of the compensation recovered. This means that, in qualifying cases, your overall liability for our legal fees will never exceed 18% of the compensation we recover for you.
The term ‘success fee’ used on this website generally refers to this costs cap rather than the uplift on base costs referred to in our ‘no win, no fee’ agreement. This usage reflects the common way the term is understood by clients rather than its strict legal definition.
In cases where we are unable to offer the 18% costs cap, we may instead offer a costs cap of 30%. Please see our 18% costs cap information page for further details.
Free Half-Hour Consultation
We offer a free 30-minute telephone consultation for claims involving personal injury or clinical negligence where there is a physical injury. This session provides general advice only and cannot be relied upon for progressing your claim. We accept no liability for advice given during this free consultation, and we recommend verifying any advice before acting upon it.
Fixed Fee One-Hour Legal Consultations
For many legal matters, we offer fixed fee consultations, giving you expert advice without a long-term commitment.
Fee: £198.00 (incl. VAT)

This service covers initial advice only. Ongoing representation is not guaranteed but may be offered depending on your case.
